“The most enduring gap between male and female board seats and appointments remains at the level of Executive Directorships. In order to close this gap and generate a sustainable talent pool, companies must invest more effort in developing the pipeline of female talent.” - Dr Elena Doldor, visiting Fellow at the Cranfield International Centre for Women Leaders
Facilitated by Mr Victor Kgoemoeswana, author of "Africa is Open for Business"

“Effective talent management will only happen if leaders and managers are held accountable for supporting women’s careers by introducing performance targets related to developing female talent and linking them to remuneration. Organisations should also ensure that women have not only mentors, but also sponsors, who advocate for them and pave the way to career-enhancing opportunities. We want all JSE listed companies to ask themselves are talented women within their organisation able to get to the top and around the boardroom table? If not they must review their talent management processes to enable this.” - Anonymous

ABSIP Women in Focus (AWIF) ABSIP has made the empowerment of black women one of its key strategic objectives since 2006 and beyond. Through specific and targeted activities, ABSIP believes that we can make a meaningful contribution towards the progression of women leaders within the financial sector. Women entering financial services, an industry that is dominated by men, require support, mentorship and nurturing. Without a well considered intervention, we are unlikely to reach the milestones set in the Financial Sector Charter and the Department of Trade and Industry’s ‘codes of good practice’ with respect to adequate representation of women at top levels of influence in decision-making and growth in our economy. MISSION - AWIF seeks to make this intervention, thereby ensuring that women draw on what is unique to their socialiation as women and are able to create a different path to the top. The objectives are:
