ABSIP 2020 Financial Services Sector Awards Cancelled

Announcement | ABSIP 2020 Financial Services Sector Awards Cancelled

01 December 2020

Dear Stakeholders

After careful consideration, ABSIP has decided to cancel the 2020 Awards, primarily due to the muted response received to the Award Nomination call. Having spent the past few months preparing for the Awards with stakeholders, we are genuinely disappointed not to be hosting the event this year.

Covid-19 has caused fear and panic, not only over possible infection, but also over job losses as economies stall. It’s important that we acknowledge the toll the pandemic is taking on us all in many ways, whether or not we ever get COVID-19. However, we are pleased to inform you that in partnership with Tsheto Leadership and coaching Academy ABSIP will be hosting a free emotional support webinar to all our members. The webinar will focus on tools to achieve a work-life balance, look out for more details on our website.

We want to thank all the nominees and nominators that have taken time to respond to the call, these will still be valid for the Awards next year. The awards are a vital part of the ABSIP value proposition and we believe that the recognition of Black excellence in the financial services industry is both necessary and important. This is why we have decided to cancel until such time that we are able to produce an awards ceremony that is credible and robust and achieves the objective of recognising the best and brightest in our industry.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused and we thank you for understanding.

Stay safe, and we’ll be in touch with more information soon.
