ABSIP WELCOMES APPOINTMENT OF SONJA DE BRUYN AS INTERIM CHAIRMAN OF RMH
JOHANNESBURG, July 9, 2020 – The Association of Black Securities and Investment Professionals (ABSIP) has praised Rand Merchant Holdings (RMH) for appointing Sonja de Bruyn as Interim Chairman, saying the company has recognised the importance of transformation and diversity.
“We are pleased that RMH has recognised that there is no shortage of black skills and has appointed Sonja,” said Polo Leteka-Radebe, President of ABSIP.
De Bruyn is co-Founder and Principal Partner of Identity Partners, a women-led investment, advisory and financing firm and chairman of Ethos Mid-Market Fund 1.
“With more than 20 years’ experience in financial services, an expert in transaction advisory, BEE retail offers, financings, transformation and empowerment policy, Sonja is suitable to chair RMH,” said Leteka-Radebe.
Sonja is Interim chairman of RMH, an investment entity, which was the biggest shareholder in FirstRand until the end of last month when the unbundling process was completed.
“We applaud RMH’s quest to embrace diversity and transformation. We also acknowledge that a lot of work still needs to be done in transforming the financial services sector and ensuring that its employees reflect the profile of its customers and the country,” said Leteka-Radebe.
